Casinos in Wisconsin or Upper Michigan
My girlfriend and I are looking to get away this coming weekend during our fall break. Does anyone know of any casinos in Wisconsin or in Upper Michigan that have craps open?

Whitmer on reopening gyms and theaters: 'I'm not going to be bullied'
This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 66%. (I'm a bot)
LANSING - Gov. Gretchen Whitmer had no announcements Tuesday on when gyms, theaters, bowling alleys and other Michigan businesses that have been closed about six months due to the coronavirus will be allowed to reopen, and said she is "Not going to be bullied" into announcing such changes before it is safe to do so. "We're going to continue to make decisions based on facts and data," Whitmer said. Owners of gyms and theaters have been stepping up the pressure for Whitmer to allow them to reopen in central and southern Michigan, as they have been able to do in northern Michigan since June 10. Asked Tuesday if she was aware of any coronavirus outbreaks in northern Michigan linked to gyms, movie theaters or bowling alleys that have opened lawfully, Whitmer said she was not aware of any off the top of her head. But she said is she aware of outbreaks tied to gyms in lower Michigan that opened without authorization. Whitmer lifted Michigan's stay-at-home order June 1, but Michigan remains in a state of emergency at least through Sept. 4.Whitmer had hoped to allow central and southern Michigan to join northern Michigan in Phase 5 of her six-phase reopening plan - allowing gyms, theaters and bowling alleys to reopen - before the July 4 holiday. At the end of July, Whitmer extended the ban on indoor bar service to northern Michigan and reduced the size of groups that could gather indoors Up North to 10, down from 50, to match lower Michigan, while also announcing that Detroit's three casinos could reopen, at 15% capacity, effective Aug. 5.Michigan's barbershops, hair and nail salons, tattoo parlors and other personal service shops reopened June 15 in southern and central Michigan, after reopening June 10 in the Upper Peninsula and northern Lower Peninsula.
Visitor's Guide to Detroit Red Wings hockey at Little Caesers Arena 2019-2020
Welcome to the 2019-2020 Detroit Red Wings season. This is the third version of this guide to help out visitors looking for some information from locals about Little Caesers Arena (LCA) and surrounding area in Detroit. I hope you find it helpful. Suggestions welcome!
Safety around the LCA as well as nearby Detroit city streets is very good. Detroit has a reputation of having high crime however in the 25+ years I've been going to games in downtown Detroit I've never felt threatened for my safety. Inside and outside the LCA main entrances are police as well as Olympia Security before, during, and after the game. The streets around the LCA and out to the restaurants and hotels are walkable. But like in any modern city don't go down the sketchy dark streets. Stay on the well-lit streets. Park in a structure or lot and not on a dark side street. Lock your car doors. Don't leave visible items inside the car. In other words don't be a victim.
A guided tour of the LCA is available by scheduling in advance on specific dates. Check the LCA tours webpage for more information on prices and scheduling.
Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster, or at the LCA box office, or through a reseller like Stubhub or even Ticketmaster's Ticket Exchange. Join the mailing list and check out the Red Wings social media for short notice deals like student and military rush ticket pricing and Fan Packs. Be advised the special offers are typically for low demand games like weekdays. Friday and Saturday games especially near holidays or against Canadian teams are high demand and typically not going to have special offers. These games will most likely not have cheap seats even on the reseller market. Starting last season the LCA has changed to mobile tickets only so no more paper tickets. Check out the mobile ticketing guides for more information. There are mobile ticket assistance street teams at the main entrances if you have an issue onsite.
There is a promotional schedule of in-arena giveaways for specific home games. These giveaways are given to entrants at the door after ticket scan until supplies run out. You can get these even at the restaurants if you entered through their doors. If there is a giveaway item that you really want I recommend being at the doors as close to opening as possible. The longer after doors open the less likely you are to get them item.
Joe Louis Arena is activaly being torn down right now. It should be completed by the end of 2019, maybe sooner. If you want a last glimpse, head over to 19 Steve Yzerman Dr, Detroit, MI 48226.
There are a variety of hotels in Detroit ranging in prices from high at the Westin Book Cadillac to lower at the Holiday Inn Express next door to the Westin. Nearby casinos such as the Ilitch-owned Motor City Casino or MGM offer free shuttle to the LCA or short 8 block walk. Check out TripAdvisor Detroit hotels for additional lodging options. My hotel experience is very limited in Detroit because I have no reason to stay in them so post your hotel tips in the comments below.
The LCA has a variety food options (pizza, shawarma, burritos, salads, sammiches, pulled pork, grilled cheese, etc.) inside but they are all at a premium price. The free game day program at the LCA contains a map. In my experience the best bang for your buck is the chicken pita from The Coop. If you want a complete Ilitch experience then get a slice or whole pie of Little Caesars pizza. Detroit is a foodie town and there are many options to choose from outside the arena. If it is your first time to Detroit or haven't been there yet I recommend getting an iconic coney island hot dog from American or LafayettePROTIP: Lafayette. Check out the /detroit sidebar for more Detroit restaurant suggestions. There are simply too many to list here so suggest your favorites in the comments below.
Harry’s Bar and Temple Bar are neighborhood bars that are within a 2 block walking distance to the LCA if you want to drink and hangout with fans before or after. The /detroit sidebar has more bar suggestions in and around the city. PROTIP: take the QLINE streetcar (US$1.50/3 hours) to the Canfield stop and quaff a few brews over crack fries at HopCat then take the QLINE south 2 stops (10 blocks) to the LCA stop at Sproat St. Got favorite bar in the area? Post in the comments below.
If you're rich and want convenience, park at the LCA VIP parking structure. It may be pricier (US$45 as of 2019-09-17) but it is a comfortable sheltered stroll to the LCA. If you are up for a short walk and would like to save a buck park at the MGM Casino or Motor City Casino for free. From there you can walk 8 blocks or take their free shuttle. The further away you park from the LCA the cheaper it is. Fox Theater is $35, the two Comerica Park structures off the I-75 service drive are both $30. There are also several surface lots nearby, some let you pay in advance. Check out the parking map Want to reserve a spot? Try Parkwhiz.com or their app. Some bars also have shuttles for free or a couple bucks. PROTIP: Nemo's has the best shuttle drivers. Early birds park for free on Temple, Woodward, and in Brush Park across Woodward from the LCA but be careful where you park because the police will write tickets if you park illegally. Ask me how I know. The parking situation is always evolving so post your tips in the comments below.
Coming from Canada? There is a Windsor tunnel bus US/CAN$5.00 one way from the bus terminal downtown Windsor (Chatham and Church) to Cass Ave. and the I-75 service drive next to the LCA. Getting through immigration takes a few minutes. Have your passport and don't be drunk. Check the link above for service times and details.
The LCA doors open 1.5 hours before puck drop. There are four sets of doors one at each corner. The Chevy Plaza at the southwest corner has a large screen that shows pre-game hype videos and on occasion the live game. Also on occasion, there are beebeverage stands in the plaza as well as picnic games (e.g. corn hole). You may have to pass through security to enter the Chevy Plaza but no ticket scan until you enter the arena doors. LCA restaurants will let you in even earlier with a ticket but access to the concourse is blocked off until all doors open. PROTIP: in cold weather prior to main doors opening either hang out at the Box Office (northeast corner) or the District Market entrance just south of the Box Office.
You can sort of watch the players arrive by car (and visitors by bus) into the parking structure off Clifford north of the I-75 service drive. Get there at least 2 hours before puck drop.
The best photos of the LCA exterior are from the east side of Woodward just north of the westbound I-75 service drive looking at the building from the southeast corner. Photo
Will Call tickets at the box office located at the northeast corner of the arena off Woodward Ave.
There is a strict bag size policy enforced at the door. I’ve seen some upset people turned away at the doors. Know before you go.
You will have to go through a metal detector and may be subject to extra screening to enter the LCA.
Free WIFI is available inside as well as outside of the arena.
There are free game day programs inside the LCA at the entrances. Grab one because it has an arena map with section numbers and vendor locations including where to get Detroit and Michigan beers. Sometimes there are interesting articles too.
The Team Store souvenir shop is in the southwest corner of the LCA. The authentic signed gear and memorabilia located in the east end of the store. There are also vendors scattered around the via and upper concourse selling souvenirs. PROTIP: the LCA prices are high for swag. Buy your gear ahead of time online or at Vintage Detroit in Detroit or FanaticU and Hockeytown Authentics out in the suburbs.
Friendly ushers are everywhere to help out and answer your questions. Most will take your photo for you if you ask politely.
During warmups, fans congregate around the glass. Players come out at 30 minutes before game time for warmups. PROTIP: I recommend watching the Red Wings shoot at the net during warmups from behind the net on the glass in section 102/103. Hearing the puck smack the glass inches from your face is neat. Same for aisle for 115/116 on the visiting team side behind the net. The ushers will let you down to the ice level for warmups even if you don’t have tickets in that section.
The sea of banners is gone but the retired jerseys and Stanley Cup Championship banners remain. They are not the originals which are now hanging in the practice rink below the main rink. You may not see them until after hype video because they are retractable. The banners share the ceiling with the Pistons banners on the other side. PROTIP: The best photo op for the Red Wing banners is in front of the Fox Sports Detroit broadcast desk at the top of section 219.
There is a nice mix of old and new artwork in the LCA. Take some time before the game to walk around the lower and upper level concourses to see the manholes, the Howe, Lindsay, Delvecchio statues from the Joe, the original Olympia sign, murals of Red Wing greats. Look for the Red Wing logo at the northeast corner lower concourse made of auto parts. There are multiple selfie and photo spots too like the Red Wings bench and Little Caesars spear. The LCA is shared with the Detroit Pistons basketball team so you will see artwork and displays featuring their greats as well.
Every seat at the LCA has a view of the ice. Some seats in the upper level (rows 6 and above between the red lines) have obstructed views of the center ice score board but there displays mounted behind the gondolas. The layout of the seats are steep especially in the upper bowl where there is less leg room than lower bowl. Sections, rows, and seats are on your ticket but navigation is based on portals. Check your ticket for your portal, go to that, then find your section/row/seat. Sit in your own seat. If you see seats that are still empty well into the first period then move to them. If someone asks you to move out of their seat just do it. Explore the arena to check out different seat views. PROTIP: go up to portals 78-82 to check out the vertigo inducing view down from the gondola.
Get to your seat 10 minutes before puck drop to see the pre-game hype video on the huge scoreboard and on-ice projection.
The LCA has a custom organ with in-house organists that play before the hype video, end of intermissions, and between plays. Lance Luce is recognizable in his red sequined jacket. To see the organ go to the upper concourse behind section 301.
Most Red Wings fans are friendly people and quite knowledgeable about their team and the sport. Strike up a conversation and you'll probably learn something new.
Cheer for your visiting team but don't be a dick about it.
DO NOT STAND UP OUT OF YOUR SEAT WHILE THE PUCK IS IN PLAY.
The LCA has a strict no smoking policy. There is no smoking inside or anywhere outside of the arena at any door. If you leave the LCA to smoke you will not be readmitted.
No, that's not the goal horn from the Joe. It is a recording of the Joe horn and to many people it sounds dull, flat, and disappointing. The horn sound is louder in the lower bowl but then again the speakers are louder in the lower bowl and have a lot more bass than the upper bowl. I have complained to no avail.
Don't leave early! If the Red Wings win the DJ will play Don't Stop Believing in the final seconds or right after the game ends for you and thousands of your friends to sing along. The arena DJ plays music from multiple genres from Motown to country to pop and is known to take suggestions. He can be reached on Twitter @thehockeyjockey.
There is no public accessible spot for athlete autographs. The best opportunity for autographs is an event created for that purpose such as the Season Ticket Holder Open House, Fan Day Open House, or charity events like Toast of Hockeytown, Charity Poker Tournaments, as well as autograph signing events posted on facebook.
Suggestion: next update should be tailored to expanding/enhancing existing features rather than an entirely new concept... (List)
As of now, the last two iOS updates have both been largely focused on adding major features into the game (first with ex lovers, then with military deployments). Don’t get me wrong, I am very much loving these new features, and very much appreciate the Devs for adding them, but I feel we should next have an update that takes care of the little stuff that I feel sometimes gets left behind too. A list of features such an update could include... — ❤️ Relationship and Fertility related items... 1. 💏 — Retooling of the “make love” interaction. I would simply say this should be split into two options: “try for a baby” and “use protection.” The latter of the two could allow for male characters to have options other than vasectomy when it comes to birth control. 2. 🎁 — Alongside you being able to give family members gifts, they should also be able to randomly surprise you with gifts as a random scenario each time you age. If you get a gift you don’t like, you could possibly pawn it too. 3. 🤱 — So yes, the latest update made teenage pregnancy in the game next to impossible. While you can have parents as young as 15, you yourself can’t get pregnant until, at the very earliest, age 16 (if you’re lucky). I’d suggest two things to remedy this: one, lower the age at which you can find love to 12 (how it was in InstLife, btw). Second, lower the age at which you can “make love” to 14. 4. 🧸 — I’d love for the ability to adopt children from foreign countries. 5. 🤰 — I’ve seen this suggestion in many places in the community: the option for male same sex couples to find a surrogate willing to carry a baby for them. 6. 🚫 — In countries where abortion is illegal, it should still be possible to get one with two options: “safe” and “unsafe.” Safe could get you arrested, unsafe on the other hand could kill you. 7. 🍼 — Since there’s no interactions with your parents before age 3, I have this suggestion: the option to “cry” to them between ages 0 and 2, with there response being random based on what they think you need. 8. 📱 — The dating app should be modified so when you select a certain age range like “20-29” you don’t always end up with someone at the bottom of that age range (in the case of 20-29, age 20). Also, it would be cool to have a similar thing for just hooking up, with income selection replaced by looks. — 🧒 Childhood and Parenthood related items... 9. 🎂 — A new scenario idea: birthday parties that your parents might decide to throw you. If you have one, you could receive gifts and/or money. 10. 🤜 — There should be a chance that a younger sibling of the opposite sex from you may ask you to defend them from a bully, as you can ask an older sibling of the opposite sex to defend you. This would add to the realism of the game. 11. 🤲 — The possibility of your parents giving you an annual allowance each time you age, depending on their wealth as well as generosity. There could also be an ability for you to give your own children a set amount in “allowances.” 12. 👼 — Alongside being able to punish your children for bad behavior, you should also have a scenario where you can reward them when they do something exceptionally good. 13. 👩⚕️ — Your children should have a chance of getting sick, with you having to take them to the doctor and pay for their treatment, especially if you decide not to vaccinate them. 14. 🏳️🌈 — Alongside your children being able to come out as gay, lesbian, or bisexual, there should also be a chance that they may end up coming out identifying as a different gender and get a sex change, the way that you can currently get one. — 🗺 Country related items... 15. 💸 — Income disparity between countries should also apply to full time jobs, as it already does to part time and freelance jobs. 16. 🏥 — In countries like Canada, Denmark, Israel, the U.K, as well as others that have universal healthcare systems, it should not cost anything at the point of service to go see a doctor and get treatment. 17. 💱 — There should be more diversity with currency symbols, like with how the Eurozone uses the “€” and the UK uses “£.” Japan and China for example, which use the Yen and Yuan respectively, should have the “¥” currency symbol. 18. 🇺🇳 — Y’all had to know I’d say this, but we need some new countries added. I would say North Korea, given the high number of requests in this community and elsewhere for it, should be given top priority regarding new countries. I would also request Austria, Iceland, Laos, Mongolia, Pakistan, Slovenia, Tunisia, and Vietnam. 19. 🌃 — This is another suggestion I’ve come across often within the community: the option to move to a different city within the same country you live in. — ✈️ Vacation related items... 20. 🏖 — New vacation destination ideas: Lake Winnipeg, Mt McKinley, Upper Peninsula Michigan, Ellis Island, Wisconsin Dells, North Pole (Alaska), Christmas Island, U.S. Presidential Libraries, Aral Sea, Burj Khalifa (UAE), Mt Fuji, Guam, Mocha (Yemen), Nuuk (Greenland), Faroe Islands, El Yunque Rainforest (Puerto Rico), and custom cities you add in. 21. 🚎 — New vacation type: road trips! Pick not one, but three destinations to visit within the country you’re living in (or adjacent countries if any). Also, pick your “class” of transport (your car, RV, etc), and choose who to take with you. 22. 🏕 — Another new vacation type: camping! Pick from a host of nearby campgrounds with random names to go to, each with a certain level of amenities, and also choose who to take with you. 23. 🛬 — If you emigrate to another country and you have family back in your home country, another vacation option should be the ability to fly back and visit. Doing so would raise relationship bars of all family members back home. Also, if a funeral occurs, you should be able to fly back for that as well. 24. 👨👩👧👦 — One more thing on vacations, I’d love if it could be possible to take more than five kids with you on vacation again. — 👿 Crime and Jail Time related items... 25. 👺 — New crimes: • Arson (🔥): you would have several options of places or things to burn down, like an ex’s house, a police station, a treasured monument, etc. • Hire a Hitman (🔫): it’s murder, only done not by yourself. You’d choose who to have killed, and have several options to hire for the job. The more you pay for a hitman, the better the odds of success and not getting caught. • Identity Theft (🔑): steal someone’s identity by successfully completing a puzzle mini game. Once you’ve done so, all their assets (houses, cars, cash) will be added to your assets. 26. ☠️ — The death penalty should be added for murder in countries where such a punishment is carried out. It would almost never be carried out the year that the sentence is handed down, so there’d be time to escape before hand. 27. ⛓ — New prison activities: • The ability to see a doctor while in prison. • A prison version of the “mind and body” section, with a prison library, a prison gym, and meditation. • The ability to call family members from as a means to raise relationship bars from prison. • Certain prison jobs, like janitor or cafeteria server. — 🚶♂️ Items relating to other Activities... 28. 🦷 — We should have a range of diseases related to our teeth, like cavities, added to the game, as well as the ability to see the dentist added as part of the Doctor section to get said diseases cured. 29. 🎰 — To expand the casino, we should have a new slot machine mini game added. 30. 📜 — The will should be remade into a checklist, so that way you can choose specific people to have in and cut out of it, rather than an all, one or none option. 31. 🦅 — New pets: Eagles! (Hence the emoji), Clown fish, Blue tang fish, Jelly fish, Panda, Komodo dragon, Snails, Pigs, and Platypuses. 32. 🧠 — With certain pets, a new interaction with them should be the ability to “train” them, which would make their smarts go up every so often. 33. 🌪 — As much as I typically tend to despise non-permanent in app purchases, I understand the reasoning behind why the time machine requires a micro transaction. However, I feel like for those of us who’ve bought Bitizenship, it should be made so perhaps every amount of years lived or so we earn a free use of the time machine. — ☯️ Miscellaneous items... 34. 📚 — The “study harder” button for school should once again raise your smarts stat bar by 4% every couple of years as it once did way back when. I’m not sure why that feature was removed as it was a wonderful feature. :) 35. 🏚 — Going back to my earlier suggestion of having true income disparity between different countries, there should also be housing options (even smaller than “tiny house”) like mud dwellings and shanty houses which are very common in low income countries. On the flip side, I’d also love houses that cost in the tens to hundreds of millions. 36. 📝 — I’d love for the ability to select a custom character’s race as well as to set what country they live and will appear in. 37. 🌆 — Two things on custom cities: one, I’d love if the character capacity on naming them could be increased so places like “Colorado Springs” can be added. Two, I’d love if the amount of spaces allowed could be increased from 1 to 2, since a lot of cities contain more than one spacing in their name, like “West_Palm_Beach” Florida for example. 38. 🌲 — I’d also love the ability to remove old legacies from the cemetery if I’ve deleted the various gravestones from within it, as well as partially deleted legacies to only show the gravestones that haven’t been deleted. 39. 💀 — Something I noticed with gravestones on the Android version is that it displays the number of spouses one had alongside lovers in general. I’d love if this could also be added to iOS. 40. 🤐 — Wording feedback: I noticed a few updates ago the “get an abortion” button when you got pregnant was changed to “don’t keep the baby.” Yes, it was only a small change, but as I’m assuming it was done to appease the “pro life” crowd, it’s a change that could lead down a slippery slope of continuously trying to pander to people who find every little thing like the word “abortion” offensive. I’d love if that change could be reverted, and further wording changes don’t occur unless necessary. At the end of the day, BitLife is a game, not Twitter. 41. 👥 — Last suggestion. This would be a super nice feature if it were added: game slots. Basically the ability to save one life and start another one, then go back to the first one later. Perhaps have two game slots for everyone, and a third one for Bitizens only. — So basically in general, an update that polishes over all those wonderful existing features we have. As for what I’d love to see in a future update that adds a major new concept, I’ve already done several posts in the past on those: Running For Political Office Friends Scenarios Tailored to Specific Jobs Looking forward to what’s coming next. And btw, for those who play on Android, the majority of what I listed is stuff that were it to be developed for iOS could also be added to Android at the same time. :) If you have any thoughts or suggestions please leave them below! 👇
Visitor's Guide to Red Wings hockey at Little Caesers Arena 2018-2019
It’s the second season of hockey at Little Caesers Arena (LCA). Many fans are still making the trek to the new arena for their first time to watch the Detroit Red Wings play. Early birds park for free on Temple, Woodward, and in Brush Park across Woodward from the LCA but be careful where you park because the police will write tickets if you park illegally. Ask me how I know.
Coming from Canada? There is a Windsor tunnel bus US/CAN$5.00 each way from the bus terminal downtown Windsor (Chatham and Church) to Cass Ave. and the I-75 service drive next to the LCA.
There are also beebeverage stands in the plaza as well as picnic games (e.g. corn hole). You will have to pass through security to enter the Chevy Plaza but no ticket scan until you enter the arena doors. LCA restaurants will let you in even earlier with a ticket but access to the concourse is blocked off until all doors open.
You can sort of watch the players arrive by car (and visitors by bus) into the parking structure off Clifford north of the I-75 service drive.
There is a souvenir shop called the Team Store in the southwest corner of the LCA. The authentic signed gear and memorabilia located in the east end of the store. There are also vendors scattered around the via and upper concourse selling souvenirs. PROTIP: the LCA prices are high for swag. Buy your gear ahead of time online or at Detroit Athletic in Detroit, FanaticU or Hockeytown Authentics up in the suburbs.
Take some time before the game to walk around the lower and upper level concourses to see the manholes, the Howe, Lindsey, Delvecchio statues from the Joe, the original Olympia sign, murals of Red Wing greats.
The layout of the seats are steep especially in the upper bowl where there is less leg room then lower bowl.
The LCA now has a legit organ with in-house organists. They're pretty entertaining. Check it out the upper concourse behind section 301.
Yes, that's not the goal horn from the Joe. It is a recording of the Joe horn and to many people is sounds dull, flat, and disappointing. The "horn" is much louder in the lower bowl but then again the speakers are louder in the lower bowl and have a lot more bass than the upper bowl. Since they didn't get a real horn in the off season, chances are the owner doesn't care and won't "fix it" any time soon if at all. I've complained to no avail.
Visitor's Guide to Red Wings hockey at Little Caesers Arena
It’s the inaugural season of the new Little Caesers Arena (LCA). Many pilgrims are making the trek to the new arena to watch the Detroit Red Wings play. This is my first version of this guide for first time visitors modeled after the one I put together for The Joe. I hope you find it helpful. Suggestions welcome!
Safety around the LCA as well as nearby Detroit city streets is very good. Detroit has a reputation of having high crime however in the 25 years I've been going to games in downtown Detroit I've never felt threatened for my safety. Immediately around and inside the LCA there are Detroit City and Michigan State Police as well as Olympia Security before, during, and after the game. The city streets around the LCA and out to the restaurants and hotels are walkable. But like in any modern city, keep your eyes and ears open and don't be stupid. Walk in groups. Stay (reasonably) sober. Don't go down the sketchy alley. Stay on the well-lit streets. Park in a guarded structure or lot not on a dark side street far away. Lock your car doors. Don't leave visible items inside the car. In other words don't be a victim. You'll be fine and you'll have a good time.
A guided tour of the LCA is available by scheduling in advance on specific dates. Check the LCA tours webpage for more information on prices and scheduling.
Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster, or at the LCA box office (if not already sold out), or through a reseller like Stubhub or even Ticketmaster's Ticket Exchange. Ticket prices for the first season of the LCA have been higher than historically at the Joe.
Joe Louis Arena is still standing but no longer being used. The Joe is designated to be torn down but that date is currently not public. You can visit the Joe at 19 Steve Yzerman Dr, Detroit, MI 48226.
I personally do not have much experience with hotels in Detroit but I know people who have stayed at the Westin Book Cadillac and the nearby Ilitch-owned Motor City Casino which also has free shuttle to the LCA or an 8 block walk. MGM Casino is also nearby with a shuttle. On the cheaper side is the Holiday Inn Express next to the Westin Book Cadillac. Check out TripAdvisor Detroit for other hotel options.
With all of the new good food options I recommend checking out a restaurant inside the LCA. Sure the food is stadium prices but there are now three full restaurants located inside the arena as well multiple food stall vendors serving a variety of tastes. The free game day program at the LCA contains a map. I am partial to The Coop. If you want a complete Ilitch experience then get a slice or whole pie of Little Caesars pizza to go or sit down at Mike’s Pizza Bar. Outside the arena I also recommend somewhere iconic such as a coney from American or Lafayette (PROTIP: Lafayette). There are many good restaurants near the LCA and beyond. Check out the /detroit sidebar for more Detroit restaurant suggestions in and around the city. Popular spots include Hockeytown Cafe and flaming cheese in Greektown.
Harry’s Bar and Temple Bar are neighborhood bars that are within a 2 block walking distance to the LCA if you want to drink and hangout with fans before or after. The Chevy Plaza outside the southwest corner of the LCA has beer stands. Be advised the northbound QLINE LCA stop is Adelaide St.
For convenience, park at the LCA VIP parking structure. It may be pricier (US$40 as of 2017-11-09) but it is a comfortable sheltered stroll to the LCA. If you are up for a short walk and would like to save a buck park at the MGM Casino or Motor City Casino for free. From there you can walk 8 blocks or take their free shuttle. The further away you park from the LCA the cheaper it is. There are several surface lots and structures nearby, some let you pay in advance. Some bars also have shuttles for free or a couple bucks. PROTIP: Nemo's has the best shuttle drivers. Regardless, remember where you parked, how you got to the LCA.
Coming from Canada? There is a Windsor tunnel bus US/CAN$5.00 each way from the bus terminal downtown Windsor (Chatham and Church) to Cass Ave. and the I-75 service drive next to the LCA. Don't be disrespectful during the national anthem(s). Just stand politely and shut up. Some visitors don't understand how disrespectful they can be. It's like 2 minutes, put the phone down.

We know the goal horn recording sucks. We've already told the Red Wings organization about it. They know. They're working on it.
There are a lot of restrooms in the LCA. I haven’t see any long lines like the Joe had. Sadly(?) there are no urinal troughs in the men’s rooms.

TIFU by having a Muscle Spasm in an Elevator and not knowing to reporting it.
TL;DR at the bottom. Cause So the best point to start is my leg damage and why I get spasms. Back in HS like all massive country people in Michigan I played football. I was 14 years old 270lb Omni-lineman. Any position offense or defense I could jump in and coordinate. During a scrimmage game, I was center. The other team put me against this 90lb running back. The little guy kept going for my legs, I kept stepping over him, rinse and repeat. One play he did it and managed to flip me. My left leg landed on top of this helmet, followed by two massive 300+lb linemen landed on him Hammer & Anvil style. First snapped the leg, second rolled my leg like an alligator. I broke my fibula in a chevron fashion (ripped out the center of the bone like a spear and less like a clean break). They also damaged my low back around the lumbar plexus. My laterally femoral cutaneous nerve is all but gone. 100% numb in my upper thigh down to just past my knee, unless I overuse it and then I'm in debilitating pain. I'm 33 now. The damage had caught up with me and I have to constantly adjust my low back to keep the pain at bay. However, I now overuse my right leg because of cross compensation. My right leg gets muscle spasms pretty often. I stand for 10-13 hour's a day. Effect So I was leaving work at some time this past week and took one of four elevators up to the employee parking level in our parking garage. My legs were doing pretty badly, but the night was over. At some point, my leg spasmed and kicked out from under me. I hit the doofloowall/something and the lights went out in the elevator. Lights going out in elevators are not uncommon for this property. We have lights flicker and brownouts pretty often. My foot didn't hurt so I know I didn't kick anything hard enough to damage a steel elevator. Elevator was still working too, just lights were out. So I looked at the situation. Said out loud "That's weird." Then went home. I get told yesterday by my regional about what happened. Property investigated, traced me back to the sales location, then spammed the video to everyone in management in the office. Owner, VP, VP of Sales, HR, Regional, Everyone but my manager, was sent the video to identify me. The VP for the property was informed of what happened. The elevator, one of four, was down for the weekend. Labor day weekend. I'm told to talk to security. I call them immediately and ask what's going on. I tell the head of security what happened, then his 2nd in command. Finally, I ask for a report form so I can make an official statement. Basically saying the same things I'm typing here plus statements that inform them it was in no way shape or form a malicious, insidious, or personal attack on the property. I also added that any and all actions were not meant to cause hard to the property, financial or otherwise. (technically the same statements, but legally not) Problem It's not even the problem that something was damaged. They fixed that. They are mad that I didn't call security and report it. I don't work directly for this property mind you. I work for another company with a location on this property. We don't have a policy in my company for reporting problems with the property outside our locations. I was off the clock. Even if I wanted to, I didn't know who to talk to, where to go, or how to do it. I didn't think that a muscle spasm would kill an elevator for three to four days. They said they weren't pressing charges, but it could end in a trespassing note on me. A trespassing note with this company is horrendously bad. Meaning I would be banned for setting foot in any and all properties for life. Forever. Casinos, Hotels, Movie Theaters, some airports, private business locations everywhere in the world. Outside of just losing my job. This property company, ryhms with NGN, would effectively stop my life, for the rest of my life, for a Muscle Spasm. They own nearly half of the city I just bought a house in. I'll learn what my fate is in the next few days. I'm currently getting copies of my medical reports as I type this. This is going to suck. TL:DR. Had a MM Spasm in an Elevator that disabled it for labor day weekend. Could get banned from NGN for life for not following a procedure that I was unaware I was supposed to follow since I don't work for them. Would lose my job, with it my house, and 50% of any possible jobs in my city.
Me and a group of buddies just nailed down our itinerary for the trip and holy smokes, am I pumped. What it looks like:
Saturday: Arrive and stay at Potawatomi Hotel & Casino in Milwaukee
Sunday: Head up to Kohler for the Ryder Cup.
Monday: Morning round at Sand Valley. Afternoon round at their short course
Tuesday: Morning round at the other Sand Valley course and either replay or hit up the short course again
Wednesday: Lawsonia in the morning. Fly out Wednesday evening.
Anybody doing something similar? Obviously going to the Ryder Cup is pretty special but I've always wanted to play Upper Midwest golf. Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota have some of the most beautiful courses and scenery IMO.

Trading Update
What’s happening this morning? It was another slow evening of news other than the German Aug factory order numbers (which were very strong although the euro and Eurozone stocks are both in the red), a few US earnings reports (COST and YUMC), andsome M&A (GIMO, HON, JWN, PENN/PNK, SNCR, and more). The overall macro narrativeremains the same as it was at the Thurs close (see below for an update on the macro narrative as well as potential upcoming risks). The major Asian indices generally saw gains – TPX +0.28%, NKY +0.3%, Hang Seng +0.28%, HSCEI +0.54%, Taiwan +0.14%, Australia +1.04%, and India +0.5-7% (mainland China and Korea were both closed). There weren’t any huge themes in Asia although Macau casino stocks were weak in HK on back of underwhelming Golden Week visitor numbers (autos and financials led HK on the upside). Australia’s 1% rally was led by banks, miners, and telecoms. The major Eurozone indices are trading off small (~10-20bp); autos are outperforming while banks, retail, energy, and utilities lag. The GBP is extending its losses from Thurs amid more uncertainty around UK PM May (the DXY spiked ~50bp Thurs and is up small so far Fri morning). US S&P futures are trading down 1-2 points.
Calendar for Fri 10/6 – the focus will be on the US jobs report for Sept (8:30amET), US wholesale inventories/trade sales for Aug (10amET), US consumer credit for Aug (3pmET), and Fed speakers (Kaplan 8:30amET on CNBC, Bostic 9:15amET, Dudley 12:15pmET, Kaplan 12:45pmET, and Bullard 1pmET). o US jobs preview – there is very little anticipation or focus on the Sept jobs report (Fri morning 8/6 8:30amET) as 1) most are anticipating large storm-related distortions and 2) at this point in the cycle it only requires ~75K monthly adds to keep the UR steady (as was discussed in this JPMorgan report http://bit.ly/2fbT6cE). The St is in print at +80K for adds (vs. ADP for Sept at +135K and Aug BLS +156K) w/a 4.4% UR (unchanged w/Aug) and wages +0.3% M/M and +2.5% Y/Y (vs. Aug +0.1% M/M and +2.5% Y/Y). It’s very difficult to see the Sept BLS report changing the near-term US monetary policy trajectory (w/ongoing normalization and a FF hike on 12/13). The potential for a hike on 11/1 is very low and if anything the Sept CPI on Fri 10/13 may be a more important data point than jobs on Fri 10/6. Instead, the bigger Fed uncertainty has nothing to do w/data or policy but instead concerns staffing (i.e. who will be the next chair? A Trump announcement could come as soon as next week – Powell and Warsh are the frontrunners according to media reports w/the former appearing to have a slight edge).
Top Headlines for Friday
Eco data recap for Fri morning 10/6 – the big data came out of Germany where factory orders for Aug beat expectations by a wide margin (orders +3.6% M/M vs. the St +0.7% and +7.8% Y/Y vs. the St +4.7%). See JPMorgan’s comments on the German data (http://bit.ly/2y42sh4). Japan’s wage inflation figures for Aug were soft, as expected (http://bit.ly/2kuygr0). o Fed chair – markets would be comfortable w/any of the main candidates (including Powell, Warsh, Cohn, Yellen, etc.) w/the exception of one person: John Taylor. Bloomberg. o Fed update – Kansas City Fed President George spoke Thurs night and said the US economy needed further rates hikes (http://cnb.cx/2kqTiqj). JPMorgan’s Mike Feroli published an updated FOMC hawk/dove chart following the confirmation of Quarles (http://bit.ly/2z1jSti). o Japan’s “Party of Hope” unveils an economic agenda that pledges to rely less on aggressive fiscal and monetary stimulus – Reuters http://reut.rs/2ghahXu o AUD hit as RBA’s Harper doesn’t rule out a rate cut in a WSJ article. http://on.wsj.com/2xW3nkD
UK PM May the subject of more speculation amid disclosure of plot to topple her; former party chairman, Grant Shapps, said May’s leadership should now be challenged. Reuters http://reut.rs/2yMrmzB
Spain/Catalonia – Spain’s Constitutional Court ordered the suspension of the Catalan parliament’s regional session scheduled for Mon; Catalonia had planned on declaring independence at the session. Reuters http://reut.rs/2xlDfjC o Spain’s gov’t will change rules and make it easier for firms to move their legal base out of Catalonia – Reuters http://reut.rs/2z1WQCF
Tax update - there is a lot of focus on taxes in the US as the Senate Budget Committee (right at the Thurs close) and the full House (at ~1pmET Thurs afternoon) advance budget resolutions (the full Senate will presumably vote within the next two weeks). This is a necessary step in the tax process (as these resolutions contain the reconciliation instructions allowing tax to pass via a simple majority in the Senate) but also a relatively minor one. Far more complicated will be agreeing on rates, deduction schedules, deficits, etc., and if anything all the press in the last few days and weeks point to divisions within the GOP on these matters being larger than anticipated. o Schumer warns that the proposal to eliminate the SALT deduction will kill the GOP tax plan – Bloomberg. https://bloom.bg/2xXX8KL o GOP desire to repeal the estate tax runs into resistance - from Republicans. As a result this piece of the 9/27 tax blueprint (among others) may wind up being scrapped - WSJ. http://on.wsj.com/2gf9G8E o Fed officials express concern over tax plans – Fed officials warned the tax plan may only provide a temporary boost to growth while fueling inflation and driving debt to unsustainable levels – Reuters http://reut.rs/2xWMrdG
Republican headaches keep growing as donors withhold money, a tax consensus fails to materialize, and “establishment” figures depart the scene (Strange losing to Moore, Corker retiring, etc.). Republican leaders are increasingly concerned about the party’s grip on the House and Senate should it fail to pass a tax bill. Leaders “fear that the inchoate populism that Mr. Trump personifies, and which Mr. Bannon is attempting to weaponize against incumbents, is on the march” – NYT http://nyti.ms/2y3lUKT
Trump looks to jolt NAFTA – the White House is considering a proposal that would represent a radical shift to the principles underlying NAFTA. According to rule changes being considered, automobiles would need to have a specific level of US-made content in order to qualify for tariff breaks (right now autos only need to have a specific level of content from within the NAFTA region). WSJ. http://on.wsj.com/2y4LXlo
Trump makes cryptic comment ahead of a dinner with US military leaders. Trump said the dinner might represent “the calm before the storm”. Asked repeatedly by reporters to clarify his comments, Trump said, “You’ll find out” – Bloomberg https://bloom.bg/2xXI2r6
Trump was “furious” over NBC’s Tillerson “moron” article; John Kelly was forced to rearrange his schedule and stayed in Washington in order to try and calm tensions – NBC. http://nbcnews.to/2fOGx3B
Iran/Trump – Trump will “decertify” the Iran nuclear accord next week (speech on 10/12) and declare the agreement as not being in the US national interest according to the Washington Post (article out at ~2:40pmET Thurs afternoon). This is consistent w/what the AP and Politico reported earlier in the week. Note that Trump’s 10/12 declarations won’t end the Iranian nuclear pact as it will be up to Congress whether re-impose sanctions on Tehran (and Trump will hold off on recommending such a step). Washington Post http://wapo.st/2z1zeOw o Decertifying the Iran Deal Wouldn’t Have to Kill It – WSJ http://on.wsj.com/2y40dKY
North Korea – US lawmakers are pressuring the Trump White House to toughen sanctions against North Korea – WSJ. http://on.wsj.com/2xlKdVQ
The Economist's lead article this week speaks to sentiment at the moment and this is one of the big reasons why stocks are proving to be so resilient. "Asset prices are high across the board. Is it time to worry?" Company-specific news update from Thurs night. There were a few earnings reports out Thurs AMC but for the most part it was another slow evening. COST EPS beats thanks to better SG&A and favorable tax while GMs were light; Sept same-store-sales beat w/upside in the US (the stock ended down 3% during the Thurs after-hours trading session). YUMC’s results came in ahead of expectations (EPS/same-store-sales) and it increased capital return. SNCR reentered M&A talks w/Siris Capital (Siris is looking to buy SNCR’s Intralinks and may take a ~20% equity stake in SNCR); SNCR ended up ~27% during the Thurs after-hours trading session. According to the WSJ, HON is pursuing an acquisition of Evoqua Water Tech in a deal that could be worth $3B (http://on.wsj.com/2yseCSp). The WSJ reported (during trading on Thurs http://on.wsj.com/2xjE24p) on merger talks between PENN and PNK (the firms have been unable to agree to terms but PENN is still interested in buying PNK).

Identifying risks – what could go wrong?
Reflation enthusiasm is undercut by less aggressive CB normalization, dramatic curve flattening, and/or a softening in nominal growth. Of all the reflation pieces (monetary policy normalization, expansionary fiscal policy, firming inflation, and ongoing real growth strength), the last piece (real growth) is increasingly being taken for granted.
Bank investors wind up focusing too much on reflation/yields (which are tailwinds) but miss weakening credit (higher provisions) and tepid loan growth.
The first speech by the next Fed chair unsettles sentiment (assuming the chair isn’t Yellen).
The tax process slows in Washington as Republicans prove incapable of reaching a consensus on rates, deductions, and deficits.
Paul Ryan decides to “pull a Boehner”, stepping down as Speaker out of frustration with his inability to pass legislation.
The final tax bill results in materially higher rates for upper-income Americans.
May winds up stepping down as UK PM, sowing ongoing Brexit uncertainty.
Abe does much worse than anticipated during the upcoming Japan election (10/22).
North Korea conducts an above-ground nuclear bomb test (or even worse, an atmospheric test).
Iran decides to resume its nuclear weapons program, sparking an immediate escalation of Middle East geopolitical tensions (Trump’s Iran speech is coming up on 10/12).
Washington introduces (or threatens to introduce) tough new regulations aimed at internet/social media companies following the Russia election investigations (note that US internet giants will be testifying before Congress on 11/1).
Prominent members of the Trump team decide to leave the gov’t (the market would be particularly sensitive to Tillerson, Mattis, Kelly, and/or Cohn departing; recent media reports suggest the Tillerson-Trump relationship is particularly strained).
Macro Update
The pro-reflation bias commenced back on 9/11 and has been propelled ever since by ongoing real growth strength, firming inflation, normalizing monetary policy/rhetoric, and expansionary fiscal policy (in particular in the US w/the 9/27 tax blueprint but also in Germany following that country’s election outcome and fin min change).
This enthusiasm can extend for a few more weeks but the ECB/BOE decisions (on 10/26 and 11/2, respectively) will mark the culmination of a series of pro-reflation catalysts/developments and thus the trade may enter a period of extended consolidation around those central bank events.
Meanwhile the nuances of this present reflation process aren’t being appreciated – growth and corporate earnings are late-cycle (not early), multiples are already rich (although not necessarily ridiculous), inflation is only very gradually firming to target, the economy faces enormous structural headwinds in the form of labor supply and productivity growth, and while central banks are normalizing policy will stay extremely accommodative for years to come (the structural headwinds and slow tightening pace will prevent yields from materially rising and curves from significantly steepening).
The tenor of sentiment is beginning to evolve and there is definitely greater frustration w/people being forced to participate in a tape many don’t particularly love at present levels – this helps fuel runs such has occurred over the last few weeks (the SPX hasn’t closed in the red since Mon 9/25) but it also makes for a precarious setup w/a lot of weak “renters” who will be quick to sell the minute momentum pauses.
Bottom Line: the lack of major catalysts is helping the rally propagate and the calendar is relatively clear until earnings (which kick off w/banks on Thurs 10/12). The reflation impetus will likely stay in place into the ECB/BOE (10/26 and 11/2, respectively) after which a consolidation (at least) is likely (note that a lot of the “easy” tax steps are occurring now – the blueprint on 9/27, the budget resolutions, etc. However, reaching a consensus on rates, deductions, and deficits will be extremely difficult and this will become more apparent later in Oct and into Nov, around the same time as the ECB/BOE decisions).
Calendar of events to watch for the week of Mon Oct 9
Calendar for the week of 10/9 – overall it should be a relatively slow week although a few items are in focus. The current reflation emphasis makes the US CPI on Fri 10/13 prob. the single most important eco data point of the week but there are other numbers in focus (German trade/IP for Aug and China imports/exports for Sept). The CQ3 earnings season kicks off in earnest with the banks on Thurs and Friday. Away from scheduled events, media reports suggest Catalonia could formally declare independence on Mon (although this could easily be delayed following court challenges and as the region’s leaders seek a settlement w/Madrid) while the White House may unveil its infrastructure spending blueprint during the week of 10/9 (http://bit.ly/2wwiop9). South Korean security officials have warned that North Korea may fire additional missiles between 10/10 and 10/18 while Trump’s Fed chair selection could come soon (media reports suggest Powell and Warsh are the two frontrunners). Trump is expected to deliver an Iranian policy speech on/around Thurs 10/12 during which he will declare the nuclear deal as no longer being in the US national interest. HON has said it will announce its formal portfolio review decision prior to earnings (media reports, including on CNBC, suggest it will retain its aerospace unit).
Calendar for Mon 10/9 – the day should be pretty quiet owing to the US Columbus Day holiday (equities will be open but fixed income is closed). The focus will be on the China FX reserve numbers for Sept (Fri night/Sat morning 10/7), the China Caixin services PMI for Sept (Sun night/Mon morning), Germany’s industrial production for Aug (2amET), and earnings (LVMH reports results after the European close).
Calendar for Tues 10/10 – the focus will be on the German trade figures for Aug (2amET), a bunch of analyst meetings (including TECD, Santander, WDAY, and WMT), the PG shareholder meeting (at which the Trian/Peltz board seat request will be voted on), and earnings (CUDA after the close).
Calendar for Wed 10/11 – the focus will be on the US JOLTs report for Aug (10amET), Fed minutes from the 9/20 meeting (2pmET), analyst meetings (KR), and earnings (DAL, BLK, FAST, and OZRK before the open).
Calendar for Thurs 10/12 – the focus will be on Eurozone IP for Aug (5amET), the US PPI for Sept (8:30amET), Trump’s Iran speech, analyst meetings (BOX, HPQ, LSCC, and WDC), and earnings (C, DPZ, JPM, LNN, Sky PLC, and Tata Consultancy pre-open).
Calendar for Fri 10/13 – the focus will be on China’s imports/exports for Sept (Thurs night/Fri morning), the US CPI for Sept (8:30amET), US retail sales for Sept (8:30amET), the Michigan Confidence numbers for Oct (10amET), US business inventories for Aug (10amET), analyst meetings (SAFM), and earnings (BAC, DRFG, FHN, FRC, JBHT, Man Group, PNC, and WFC pre-open).
